Concentration and dilution · Revision sheet
Count solute amount before and after adding solvent.
Learn the idea
Concentration
Molar concentration c = n/V uses solution volume in liters.
Dilution
In a simple dilution without reaction or solute loss, c₁V₁ = c₂V₂.
Volume
Final solution volume is not the same as the volume of added solvent.
Units
Convert milliliters to liters for c = n/V; ratios may use matching volume units.
Explain without looking
- What is the solvent in a dilute aqueous salt solution?
- Why can c₁V₁ = c₂V₂ fail if the solute reacts during mixing?
