About Bocconi
Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi was founded in 1902 in Milan and is a private university. Its headquarters has been on Via Sarfatti since 1941, and the campus combines older buildings with a newer extension, designed by the SANAA studio and opened in 2019, that includes a residence hall and a sports centre. Bocconi focuses on economics, management, finance, law, political and social sciences, and data science and computing.
Many bachelor programs are taught in English, and some are in Italian. The program list shows the language of each.
How Bocconi selects international applicants
Non-EU applicants who do not live in Italy and are not in the Italian school system register as international applicants. For 2027-28, Bocconi bases admission on two things: your admission test result and your grade point average from the third-last and second-last years of secondary school. For a Canadian or US student in a four-year high school, that means grade 10 and grade 11 results. Accepted tests are the SAT, the ACT and the online Bocconi test. Ranking depends on the places available in each selection round, the programs chosen and the number of applications.
You will also need your final-year transcript and, for enrolment, an accepted English certificate for English-taught programs. Law programs have their own admission track.
Application rounds
Bocconi runs several selection rounds for each intake, with earlier rounds giving earlier decisions. The exact dates for 2027-28 are on the admissions timeline page. Because places are filled round by round, applying in an earlier round can give you more programs to choose from, provided your test score is ready.
- Choose up to the number of programs allowed and check their language.
- Take the SAT or ACT, or register for the online Bocconi test.
- Submit the online application with your transcripts for the relevant years and pay the application fee.
- If admitted, confirm your place by the deadline and apply for an Italian study visa.
Fees and funding
For 2027-28, Bocconi lists a fee of 17,700 euros per year for first-year Bachelor of Science and Law students; some programs, such as the World Bachelor in Business and double degrees, have their own fees, and the page was marked as being updated when checked. Reductions of 20 to 100 percent may be granted based on family financial circumstances, and Bocconi runs merit and need-based awards for international students. Milan housing is expensive, so budget for it alongside tuition.
