This equation requires constant acceleration over the interval.
Rule and assumptions
This equation requires constant acceleration over the interval.
v = u + at
Worked examples
In one dimension, u = -5 m/s and constant a = 6 m/s². Find the signed velocity after 12 s. Round to 3 decimal places if needed. Answer in m/s.
v = u + at -5 + (6) × 12 = 67
67 m/s
In one dimension, u = -1 m/s and constant a = 6 m/s². Find the signed velocity after 15 s. Round to 3 decimal places if needed. Answer in m/s.
v = u + at -1 + (6) × 15 = 89
89 m/s
Try two questions
In one dimension, u = 12 m/s and constant a = 5 m/s². Find the signed velocity after 10 s. Round to 3 decimal places if needed. Answer in m/s.
