Remember this

Logarithms as exponents

A logarithm asks which exponent produces the argument.

log_b(a) = x ↔ bˣ = a; a > 0, b > 0, b ≠ 1

6^3 = 216

Logarithms of products

For real logarithms: b > 0, b ≠ 1, u > 0 and v > 0.

log_b(uv) = log_b(u) + log_b(v)

log_4(1024) + log_4(64) = 5 + 3 = 8
