Pushes, pulls and changes in motion · Revision sheet
Describe familiar motions using an object, an action and a direction.
Learn the idea
Push or pull
A push acts away from the hand; a pull acts toward it. Both are ways to exert a force.
Observe the change
An object can begin moving, slow down, move faster or change direction. Say what you actually see.
Compare fairly
Use the same toy and surface when comparing gentle and stronger pushes. Keep fingers and faces clear.
Not a permanent supply
After a hand stops pushing, a moving toy may continue moving. The push does not have to remain in contact.
Explain without looking
- Which change could a sideways push make to a rolling toy?
- A toy moves after the hand lets go. Must an invisible hand still be pushing it? Explain simply.
